Are You Righteous?

"For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham,
or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith."
As a born again believer you are an heir of Abraham and you are his seed.
Romans 4:1-3 says:
"Then what should we say Abraham, our forefather, obtained by his own efforts?
For if Abraham came to be considered righteous by God because of legalistic
observances then he has something to boast about. But this is not how it is before
God! For what does the scripture say? "Abraham put his trust in God, and was
credited to his account as righteousness."

Here, Paul is talking about Abraham the forefather of our faith how he did not obtain or become righteous because he followed legalistic observances, but by trusting in God. Paul also said in Romans 3:21-31,
"But now, quite apart from the Law, God's way of making people righteous in His sight has been made clear - although the law and the Prophets give their witness to it as well - and it is a righteousness that comes from God, through the faithfulness of Jesus, to all who continue trusting. For it makes no difference wherher one is a Jew or a Gentile, since all have sinned and come short of earning God's praise. By God's grace, without earning it, all are granted the status of being considered righteous before Him, through the act of redeeming us from our enslavement to sin that was accomplished by the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). God put Jesus forward as a propitiation for sin  for us through His faithfulness in respect to His bloody sacrificial death. That vindicated God's righteousness; because in his forbearance, he looked over [with neither punishment nor remission] the sins people had committed in the past. It also vindicates His righteousness in the present age by showing that he is righteous himself and is also the one who makes people righteous on the grounds of Jesus' faithfulness. So...what room is left for boasting? None at all! What kind of law excludes it? One that has to do with legalistic observance of rules? No, rather, a law that has to do with trusting. Therefore, we hold the view that a person comes to be considered righteous by God on the ground of trusting [faith], which has nothing to do with legalistic observance of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn't he also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is indeed the God of the Gentiles; because as you will admit, God is one. Therefore, he will consider righteous the circumcised on the ground of trusting and the uncircumcised through that same trusting. Does it follow that we abolish the law by this trusting? Heaven forbid! On the contrary, we confirm the law."
This basically says that both Jews and Gentiles could only be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and it gives examples of how Abraham was justified. Also that righteousness comes from God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. Man was given the gift of righteousness. Whether you're Jewish or Gentile, we all have sinned and came short of earning God's praise. So by the Grace of God (that is, without earning it) we are forgiven (if we ask to be forgiven), so it's a choice. Through Jesus we are granted the status of being considered rigtheous before God.

This was given to us (if you choose) through the act of redemption. We were redeemed by the actions of Jesus. Jesus went to the Cross, died and was resurrected for you and me. Jesus was a propitiation for sin through his faithfulness to God. Paul goes on and says, therefore, a person is considered righteous by God on the grounds of trust. He explains that there's a God and He is the God of everyone, Jews as well as Gentiles. For the sake of those who are not familiar with the terms let's define Gentile. According to the World Book Dictionary, it's a person that is not Jewish, a heathen. So, through trusting and faith in what Jesus did at the Cross, we are made righteous.
Abraham, the father of the Jewish nation was a heathen or an uncircumcised Gentile before God pardoned him by grace through faith. Abraham could not have been justified by obedience to the law, which was not until 430 years later. In Galatians 3:17, Paul says, Here is what I am saying, the legal part of the law, which came into being 430 years later does not nullify an oath sworn by God, so as to abolish the promise.
You see Abraham had the blessing many years before he was circumcised. Therefore the blessing did not  come through circumcision. Galatians 3:18 says, "For if the inheritance comes from the legal part of the Law, it no longer comes from a promise. But God gave it to Abraham through a promise. Abraham was justified by faith in Christ 24 years before circumcision. Justified means freeing or freed from the guilt or penalty of sin through faith in Jesus Christ.
Roman 3:21-24 goes on to speak about God's way of making people righteous in His sightand it is clear...all have sinned and come short of earning God's praise. By God's grace, without earning it, all are granted the status of being considered righteous before him, through the act redeeming us from our enslavement to sin that was accomplished through one Jesus Christ.
Therefore, if you believe you are redeemed then you are righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. Through our spiritual union with Him, we are One with Him. He is in us and we are in Him. We are partakers of His "devine nature". We have the ability to live our lives as He lived His life in complete victory over sin. Put on the "new man" and be followers of God. Imitate Him as little children.
For God is going to have a people. God purposed before the foundation of the earth to have a people who would be holy and blameless above reproach in His eyes. Jesus the Lord of our righteousness, came to earth, destroyed the works of the devil, freed man from sin and has given us the ability to be righteous as He is righteous. It is not automatic. We must appropriate His righteousness by continually drawing upon His strength to crucify the evil desires of the flesh.

You are the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:7, says, "Therefore...know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham."

Gal. 3:29 says, "And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the
promise."
